Kevin Spacey cleared of 40 million sexual assault charges

A New York court on Thursday, October 20, dismissed a $40 million sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Anthony Rapp, an actor like Spacey, who claimed that Kevin Spacey targeted him when he was 14 years old. According to the USA, after about an hour of deliberation, “the jury did not find the accused responsible”.

Kevin Spacey, the 63-year-old star of “The Usual Suspects” and “House of Cards,” has been cleared of a $40 million sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Anthony Rapp, AFP reported. After nearly an hour of deliberation, the jury did not find the accused responsible and the case was dismissed. Spacey was seen leaving the court without speaking to reporters shortly after the verdict was announced.

Kevin Spacey’s attorney said in a statement:

“Spacey is grateful that he lives in a country where his citizens have the right to be tried by impartial jurors who make their decisions based on evidence, not rumors or social media. While we respect the jury’s decision, nothing that happens to her will change.”

Spacey, one of the first stars to be caught in the global #MeToo showdown, has denied separate sexual assault charges. Three men were arrested in England between March 2005 and April 2013. In 2019, charges of indecent assault and sexual assault against the actor were dropped in Massachusetts.

ALLEGED HARASSED AT THE AGE OF 14

Anthony Rapp, who starred in Star Trek: Discovery, claimed he was attacked by Spacey at a party in Manhattan in 1986, when he was 14 and Spacey was 26.

The now 50-year-old actor has filed a lawsuit accusing Spacey of breaking into a bedroom where he was watching television, lifting him onto the bed and briefly lying next to him. But he didn’t say anything about kissing or undressing involved.

SPACEY CONFIRMED THAT HE IS GAY AFTER THE ACCEPTIONS

At the time of Rapp’s accusations, Spacey said it was the first time he had publicly said that he was gay, leading to accusations that he was “trying to change the subject or do it”. Meanwhile, he was removed from the series House of Cards, which was followed with interest by the whole world, and the last episode of the series was shot without Spacey in the lead role.

ANNOUNCED THAT HE HAS A HOMOPHOBIC FATHER

During cross-examination in New York, Spacey described his troubled family history with a father he described as “white supremacist” and “neo-Nazi”, who disliked gay people and did not appreciate his son’s interest in theater.

REGRET FOR ANY APPOINTMENT

Spacey said in previous statements that Rapp’s accusations made him feel shocked, frightened and “confused”.
